05/04/2017 - Kygyz suspect in St Petersburg Bombing

The National Security Committee of Kyrgyzstan (GKNB) have confirmed that a suspect in the St Petersburg metro bombing was born in Kyrgyzstan and later became a Russian citizen. The death toll of the attack has risen to 14 people, including citizens of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. Until the identity and guilt of the suspects can be ascertained the motives behind the attack remains unknown. However the bombings could lead to a rise in xenophobic attacks against Central Asians, increasing the pre-existing anti-migrant feelings held by elements of Russian society.
